Daily Cartoon PocketMod

cartoon bankHere is a PocketMod mod that grabs the daily cartoon from www.cartoonbank.com, which luckily is a jpeg. The PocketMod app does not allow for importing gifs (sorry, no Dilbert).

Cartoonbank has a strange way of providing the artwork, they name each one as the date, and not the “cartoon_of_the_day.jpg”. I do not know which timezone they are in and when the generate the file. Just wait a couple hours after midnight and you should be fine.

I added logic to the mod to check if the file exists, if it doesn’t it will try to grab the one from the previous day. Enjoy!

Great PocketMod mods, I was wondering if you could tell me what you used to create your mods swf files.

I am going to attempt to use your TaDa oen to grab an RSS that I have a perl script generate reading the data from my d3 gtd tiddlywiki.

I use Macormedia Adobe Flash (wow, that seems weird to say outloud) to make them dynamic. It has a bit of programming in them. I trick the xml config file into letting me pass variables into my pocketmods.

I don’t know if you have seen this, but it might help you out with d3…
